my family is forcing me to marry some one i don't love even i don't like

I am 19yrs and I don't want marry at this age.. but my family wants me to marry someone they like....he is above 30yrs... I hate him and I don't want see him.. my mother is a heart patient and I can't hurt her even... I just don't know what to do.. I am confused... somehow they are emotionally blackmailing me.. My mother said if I love her i have to marry him... I love her and I can't hurt her she is my everything.

Hi, im in the same situation as she is. im 19 years old female. my mom is forcing me to marry a guy that i have never seen from back home. i rejected him at the first time and my mother was ok with it but for some reason she is forcing me to marry him since my aunt made up stories of how girls run away from home. the guy is 22 years old. my mom is emotionally blackmailing me by saying she will disown me if i refuse to marry him; i don't want to marry him nor want my mom to disown me and if she or her sister say any other word i swear i will commit suicide. All i want is let me study and let me choose my own life partner.

Thank you for contacting Positive Personal Growth. What a horrible situation for you to be in. You say your mother wants you to marry this man, has she told you why? Have you spoken quietly to her and explained that you don't want to and that marrying him would make you very, very unhappy?

I can only suggest that you speak to a family member who is understanding, maybe an uncle or aunt who may speak to those family members who want you to marry this man. Do you have someone of standing (a vicar, teacher, doctor)who is prepared to talk to your family on your behalf?
